Position Summary

The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for daily work and projects for multiple programs: Student Life, Associated Student Government (ASG), Ossie’s Cupboard, and Alpha Zeta Pi. As a lead-worker representing multiple departments, the coordinator provides services to the departments and supports activities related to event planning and promotion, student monitoring and reporting, budget preparation, purchasing and travel requiring thorough knowledge of student life, the college, and its programs. The coordinator requires knowledge of internal and external systems, processes, and resources for students and maintains relationships with district wide college staff and faculty. The Student Life Coordinator may administer grants and other funding resources for local student life programming and serves in the accomplishment of administrative and non-routine duties related to Student Life goals and outcomes.

 

 

Examples of Duties - Essential Functions

 

1.


Student Life Coordinator
  • Monitor and improve Student Life, Associated Student Government and Alpha Zeta Pi Department processes.
  • Monitors and update webpages.
  • Supports the ASG social media postings.
  • Maintains the scheduling of the Rogue mascot, Ossie the Osprey.
  • Ossie’s Cupboard

Administrative
  • Assists managers with department meetings, trainings, and travel arrangements.
  • Monitor budgets for multiple departments.
  • Supports the college wide Student Engagement team.
  • Maintains governing documents and standard operation procedures for Associated Student Government.
  • Supports the director with monthly ASG reports for the RCC Board of Education.
  • Assists with the RCC student profile to the RCC Board of Education.
  • Schedules departmental appointments.
  • Create payment for adjunct faculty.
  • Submit workorders for events.
  • Create and maintain reports for multiple directors and departments.

Other Duties as Assigned

Screening Criteria

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – A Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Administration, Communication, Adult Education, or related field is required.
  • Experience – A minimum of three years experience in educational administration or program coordination is required.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree. Experience working in a community college or university setting is preferred.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Core Competencies)
  • Knowledge – Program coordination and promotion specific to areas of assigned responsibility; social media trends and platforms, educational methods, processes, theory and their application, especially those common to assigned programs; education and motivation; community college operations, tracking budgets and expenditures, and marketing/promotional techniques and tools; familiarity with distance learning technology; Microsoft Office Suite® products; media equipment operation; computer applications, including, but not limited to, word processing, networks, the internet, spreadsheets, multi-media presentations.
  • Skills – Excellent customer service and people management skills; conflict resolution skills, must possess strong verbal and written communication skills; computer skills, preferably in Microsoft Office Suite® products; recruiting, and marketing skills. May work remotely from home.
  • Abilities – Serve as program coordinator and team leader for Student Life programming. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to all customer levels; be confident and positive in marketing and promoting courses and programs; represent the College and its programs professionally; set up and operate instructional equipment; and collaborate with a team.

  • Food Handlers License
  • For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.

  • This position functions as an in-person work arrangement, working on-campus with either a set schedule or flexibility depending on operational needs.

Physical Demands
The physical demands listed below represent those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with qualified disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 60%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 lbs. daily and 5-25 lbs. rarely. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.

 

 

Additional Posting Information

This is a Full-time Classified, 40 hour per week (100%) position in the Student Life department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 6 on the 2024-25 Classified Wage Schedule.

Rogue Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
