Montgomery College has an immediate need for a full-time Transfer Credit Evaluator on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus. The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00pm This is a non-exempt, bargaining, grade 21 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College.

The Transfer Credit Evaluator serves as a contact to review student’s prior course work and determines eligible transfer credits. Incumbent will research and respond to inquiries regarding student’s transfer evaluation inquiries.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews and evaluates transcripts and transfer credit-related documents from prior educational institutions to determine advanced standing.
  • Determines transfer coursework applicability and/or equivalency, posting results in student database, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Authenticates documents and ensures accuracy of transfer student academic records. Scans and indexes documents to document management system, as needed
  • Reviews Permission to Enroll forms and advises on approval.
  • Provides notification of transcript receipt and summaries of accepted transfer credits to students.
  • Research and respond to inquiries related to students’ transfer evaluation.
  • Coordinates with graduation coordinator and MC counselor to ensure that courses are transferred, and course substitutions are submitted.
  • Collaborates with college-wide transcript evaluators and registrars.
  • Releases information in accordance with college policy.
  • Secures, reviews, and modifies evaluation records.
  • Updates the transfer course database.
  • Attends Transcript Evaluators Affinity Group meetings with representatives from other Maryland schools, AACRAO (American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers) meetings, MOCCRAO (Maryland Organization of Community College Registrars and Admissions Officers) meetings, and interoffice meetings.
  • Serves as a resource for students, College personnel, and the general public.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Three (3) years of transcript evaluation experience including experience with a student information database or an equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with employees and the public.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to operate various items of office related equipment, such as, personal computer, copier, and fax machine.
  • Knowledge of Academic Regulations regarding transfer policies as well as graduation policies for Montgomery College.
  • Thorough knowledge of admissions and records processing procedures of the College.
  • Ability to evaluate information regarding course credit from other institutions.
  • Experience with an integrated student database.
  • Ability to comply with confidentiality requirements as outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Knowledge of COMAR, MHEC, and state regulations concerning transfer policies among state schools.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze and present information in a meaningful manner.
  • Skill in research, organization, and problem solving.

Hiring Range: $22.89 - $29.74 per hour. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.
