Essential Duties and Responsibilities

At a minimum, the essential functions of the Instructional Aide are:

• Assist in teaching students the general safety practices necessary during HVAC operations.
• Assist in teaching students how to identify problems and adjust equipment for optimal performance.
• Assign, direct, and evaluate lab exercises for students and classroom instructors.
• Plan, organize, and assist in the instruction of course in the day, evening, or on weekends on any Northwest Shoals Community College campus as assigned.
• Conduct and maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and instructional materials.
• Keep active at a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulate enthusiasm for those subjects.
• Recommend textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to instructor.
• Keep student informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.
• Assist with registration, recruitment, and retention of students.
• Submit required reports to the appropriate administrative personnel.
• Keep informed of current trends and new approaches to instruction via professional development activities.
• Become thoroughly familiar with all college policies and procedures and comply with all college polices and procedures.
• Participate in program and curriculum review and development.
• Maintain accurate and complete scholastic records.

Qualifications

• Completion of all coursework in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), advancing toward an Associate Degree, required.
• Minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience as a practitioner in the HVAC field, required.
• Teaching experience at the postsecondary level in the HVAC field, preferred.

HOURLY RATE:  $27.50  (19 hours or less per week with NO BENEFITS)
