Job Description
The nursing instructor is responsible for the planning, selection, organization, implementation, supervision, facilitation, and evaluation of the total learning experience of nursing students. The nursing instructor is responsible for effectively managing a clinical group of up to ten nursing students in a variety of clinical settings and will serve as a mentor/role model to students, faculty, and community by presenting a positive, professional image.
The instructor may teach seated (in-person) and online classes.

Essential Duties Summary
- Assume responsibility for preparing and teaching the assigned course/clinical according to course outlines or schedules.
- Maintain accurate records and submit all college reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in curriculum meetings and curriculum revision as necessary.
- Being familiar with and adhering to college policies.
- Clinical instructor opportunities can be in Wilkes County, Ashe County, Forsyth County, or Iredell County.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must have the following:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and willing to obtain Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) within 5 years of hireCurrent and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in North Carolina.Two calendar years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse (RN).Current BLS certificationMust have up-to-date immunizations for clinical sites.
In addition, the individual must have excellent communication skills, proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to work effectively with other people such as students, co-workers, management, and clinical site staff.
Preferred Qualifications
MSN in Nursing Education or currently enrolled in MSN in Nursing Education Program
Physical Demands Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required.
Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.Salary Grade
Salary Commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the college salary plan. All WCC positions are subject to budget approval.
