Job Summary
The Department of Neurosurgery at Michigan Medicine is seeking a neurosurgeon to join its neurosurgical practice. The successful applicant will be an active participant in the academic mission of the department and the institution. Duties include patient care, teaching, administrative, and research responsibilities. Research activity will include initiation of projects, acquisition of external funding, project direction, and publications.
Required Qualifications*
Medical doctorate degree. Completion of a Neurological Surgery residency training program. American Board of Neurological Surgery certification or eligibility. Hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan and a Federal DEA registration. Demonstrated ability as an academic surgeon. Evidence of competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected. Evidence of scholarly ability (publications in peer-reviewed journals, successful acquisition of external funding, etc.) is also expected.

Underfill Statement
Candidate may be hired at either Assistant Professor or Associate Professor depending on qualifications.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
