Research Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Department of Otolaryngology is seeking a Research Program Coordinator. The Research Program Coordinator will work closely with investigators to implement study procedures that involve capturing complex surgical data in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.


Specific Duties and Responsiblities

  • Assist with several aspects of clinical research studies including identifying patients that meet eligibility criteria described in the protocol.
  • Coordinate with surgeons' operating room and clinic schedules and study personnel to ensure timely data collection.
  • Attend to data collection in clinical sites/operating rooms at different locations and in cadaver studies.
  • Collate and organize patient surveys for different cohort studies, administer surveys and monitor their completion.
  • Maintain inventory of study equipment and coordinate purchases, abstract medical data from charts requiring interpretation.
  • Organize study documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA and IRB regulations and standard research procedures.
  • Prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
  • Efficiently manage time to match work hours with operating room and clinic schedules (which often begin at 7:30 am) and attend to other responsibilities.
  • Actively update supervising study coordinator and/or investigators on participant enrollment and data collection status via verbal and written communication.
  • Take initiative in anticipating and responding to staff and research participants’ needs based on awareness of routine and repeated job functions.
  • Maintain high level of motivation for job functions with positive attitude.
  • Attend regular research group meetings (weekly or monthly).
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision, but seek clarification when needed regarding data quality and integrity issues.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and demonstrated ability to interact appropriately and professionally with surgical collaborators, study participants, and staff.
  • Abillity to work both independently with modest direction and as part of a team.
  • Highly detail-oriented and be able to problem solve, prioritize responsibilities, and manage several priorities at once.







Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, tothe extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with working in a clinical environment or the operating room is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Windows and OSX and intermediate computer experience.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($23.75/hour targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
