As our Substation Designer I you will create highly detailed technical designs for additions and modifications to the distribution utility system from the onset of the project through its completion. You will independently and under the direction of senior designers managing concurrent projects related to designing Substation electric facilities and ensuring compliance with company standards, government regulations and tariffs. You will work as part of a project team on multiple projects, prioritizing tasks and communicating effectively, while also managing and maintain design records and files, complete as-built drawings, and create various permit drawings.

Other responsibilities include:
- Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks.
- Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements.
- Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas.
- Work with small project teams to execute substation projects.
We are seeking the following qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in the Substation Design/Power Delivery Field.
- Experience with high voltage substation design (15kV through 500kV) activities such as preparing one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (foundation, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment.
- Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards.
- Experience with power system calculations (AC panel sizing, DC panel and battery sizing, Voltage Drop Calculations, Cable Sizing, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of substation physical equipment is required.
- Knowledge of Protection and Controls design is required.
