Job Description
This position is a contract position with the possibility of extension/career conversion.

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite in La Jolla and remote.
DESCRIPTIONExperienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems / issues of diverse scope and determines solutions.
Applies skills as a seasoned user experience designer with a full understanding of industry practices and relevant policies and procedures to complete a wide range of assignments. Demonstrates competency in applying methods and techniques to produce results. Projects typically are broad in scope and impact all components of a small to medium size website, system, project or department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSSeven years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.
Skills in diagramming, prototyping and using design tools.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Effective time management skills.
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Preferred: Basic web and / or software development skills.
Demonstrated experience implementing user interface design best practices and guidelines in websites and / or production software.
Demonstrated knowledge of design principles and guidelines for area of expertise (i.e., visual design, interaction design, information / data visualization, user interface software).
Basic understanding of common software architectures and IT infrastructure technologies, especially presentation layer technologies.
Basic knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
