Reports to: Business Magnet Director & Vice Principal 

 

Job Status: Part-time, 10-month, exempt



Salary Information: Salary will be commensurate with experience for teaching high school business classes.

Description: 
JSerra Catholic High School is seeking a business class teacher to teach 2 - 3 high school business
classes and someone who enjoys working with high school-aged students and their families.

Responsibilities

  • This position entails teaching the following classes (subject to change dependent on the
incumbent’s experience): Business Communication Honors, Speech & Debate, and Accounting
  • Responsible for coordination and logistics of Business Magnet Program activities
  • Support the Business Magnet Director in ensuring all students complete the requirements
necessary
  • Provide other general department duties as needed
  • Consult with parents as needed (e.g., phone calls, email, written notes, meetings, etc.)
  • Supervise students outside the classroom as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Teaching experience strongly preferred
Prior business experience with a communication focus required
Candidate must possess strong interpersonal as well as verbal & written communication skills
Strong time management, organizational, and administrative skills needed
Advanced computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook required)


Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a school and/or business environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position requires the ability to perform occasional light lifting and carrying; standing and walking; and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Occasional hand use and finger dexterity needed to use computer keyboard and operate standard office equipment; occasional pushing, pulling, grasping, and reaching may also be required. Good hearing is required when communicating on the telephone or in person.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment described herein is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential function of this job. Primarily office environment with controlled temperature conditions and exposure to environmental factors and hazardous physical substances are minimal and pose little to no risk of injury. Occasional driving to meetings and/or events may be required.

The employment relationship between the School and Staff Member is considered “at-will” in accord with general employment practices in California. Under this employment relationship, Employee is free to end his/her employment with the School for any reason at any time, with or without notice. Likewise, the School may end Employee’s employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, pursuant to this “at-will” provision.
