Job Description:

The P/T Program Specialist, Accessibility Services will:

  • Collaborate with Accessibility Services staff to provide programs to students majoring in Career and Technical Education to help effectively navigate college life.
  • Coordinate outreach to students served by Accessibility Services to keep them apprised of key dates and services.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops for students served by Accessibility Services on topics such as student success strategies, and the use of assistive technology, and steps to request accommodations.
  • Collaborate with staff, faculty, administrators, and external service providers to ensure provision of reasonable accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate case files and required data for reporting system(s) to ensure student progress is documented and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports.
  • Adhere to and keep current with ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable best practices, laws, and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities in higher education.
  • Participate in departmental and College meetings as well as professional learning programs.
  • Contribute to the assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Accessibility Services.
  • May perform other incidental tasks, as required.

 


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or similar field, and two years of related experience working with students with disabilities in higher education. Satisfactory completion of 30 credits toward a Master's degree may be substituted for each year of the required experience. The successful candidate must possess a high attention to detail; excellent written and oral communications skills; and an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while remaining organized.  They must also have a proactive nature; exceptional judgement; and a collegial and team-oriented temperament. Proficiency in software systems including Microsoft Office applications is required. The ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information; an ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing needs and priorities; a strong student-centered and asset-based orientation; and an ability to effectively work with a team of diverse faculty, staff and students is essential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology is preferred.


Additional Information:

POSITION EFFECTIVE:  The position will remain open until filled.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an on campus, part-time position, working 28 hours per week.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY:  $34.60/hour.  No benefits.  This position is fully grant funded.
