The Department of History at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a twelve-month Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in United States history before 1877. The position has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. This is a non-tenure-track position for the academic year 2024–25, contingent upon funding. The duties of this position include teaching two regularly scheduled courses per semester as arranged in consultation with the department chair. The fellow will be expected to teach US History survey courses, in addition to their choice of upper-division HIST courses listed in the
UNR Catalog
on such topics as Nevada and the West, environmental history, gender and sexuality, Asian American history, or science, technology, and society, depending on their specific areas of expertise. In addition to teaching, the fellow is also expected to advance their own research agenda, direct undergraduate theses and graduate independent studies as requested, and serve on departmental committees.Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in History or related field.

The awarding of the degree must be no earlier than May 2020 and no later than August 2024.

Completion of a doctoral degree in the appropriate discipline is required.

The doctoral degree must have been completed within the five years immediately preceding the first date of appointment as a postdoctoral fellow at the University.

The individual cannot have held previous positions in the professional ranks.
