Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Cancer Biology, would like to hire a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Yanbo Fan (https://researchdirectory.uc.edu/p/fanyb). The Fan lab has major research interests in vascular biology, metabolism, and angiogenesis. We currently focus on the elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying vascular diseases (atherosclerosis, aortic aneurysm, etc.) and angiogenesis using a combination of molecular, cellular, genomic, and mouse genetic (conditional knockout, transgenic, and mutant knock-in) approaches for the studies and translational research.

Essential Functions

  • Perform and conduct the research required by the faculty supervisor to a high standard and in accordance with all institutional and federal regulations.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
  • May support the development of proposals for research-related funding and grants.
  • Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations of research results.
  • Communicate actively with the project team, ensuring that relevant information and issues in implementing projects/experiments are captured in a comprehensive and timely manner. May teach techniques to others, train and mentor junior research staff
  • Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and other faculty members as well.
  • Enthusiastic and highly self-motivated candidates who can work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff from various culturally diverse backgrounds.

Required Education

Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, the recognized terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent.

Required Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
  • May require experience with specialized software programs.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Research experience in vascular diseases, metabolism, and angiogenesis.
  • Prior experience in animal studies and surgical procedures.
  • Experience in independently designing and conducting experiments.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
