Job Description

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available within the Amanda Morris research group to support our recently awarded Commonwealth Health Research Board program and an existing National Science Foundation program. The work involves the preparation and photo(electro)chemical characterization of molecularly modified titania surfaces for applications in photocatalysis and quantum sciences and photoinduced drug delivery from metal organic framework cages. The projects will involve small molecule synthesis (inorganic and organic), metal organic framework synthesis, photolysis measurements, and potential biological work in collaboration with other groups. Characterization techniques such as NMR, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravametric analysis, scanning electron microscopy, cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and transient laser spectroscopy will be components of the work.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or an appropriate related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
  • Experience in the synthesis and characterization of inorganic molecules and/or catalysts
  • Strong work habits and the ability to work independently as well as with a research group
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • First author research publications
  • Experience with metal organic framework synthesis
  • Presentations at conferences and/or other instances of communicating research work
  • Experience with cited characterization techniques
