Epic Phoenix Manager-Transplant - 130099

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health's Information Services Manager for Transplant will oversee EHR workflows as it relates to UC San Diego Health's Transplant department including but not limited to Epic Phoenix. This role would manage a team of Epic build analysts supporting Epic Phoenix and the transplant department at UC San Diego Health. This role would work closely with transplant leadership to develop and design solutions to improve transplant. This role be responsible for implementation of any new EHR tools to support transplant, EHR maintenance, support, and enhancements. Candidates should have strong Epic experience in Epic Ambulatory and Phoenix.

Involves the design, building, testing, and implementation of clinical application systems. Provides support to clinical users through knowledge of clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards, when adapting software to meet their needs. Works with clinicians to create or adapt written protocols. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risk and impact analysis. May provide customer service, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates daily operations and activities of clinical applications team.

  • Evaluates quality and productivity of work with regard to optimal user experience and functionality of systems.

  • Supervises implementation of clinical applications methods, systems, processes, with responsibility for meeting project goals, objectives, and timelines within budgets.

  • Selects, develops and evaluates staff, or provides input to management to ensure efficient operations.

  • Recommends salary actions, terminations, performance ratings and other personnel matters.

  • Supervises, monitors, documents, and reports on new program development, including systems analysis, planning, programming, testing, deployment, and coordination between client and vendor.

  • Oversees the support system for end users, which includes training users in application workflows and procedures, development of user aids and tools, troubleshooting and resolving user problems, and coordinating outside service and support as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Related experience: EHR Analyst experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and supervise a technical team and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinical applications.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical applications operations, including methods, concepts, policies, procedures, programming, development, deployment, testing, training, troubleshooting, operating systems, medical terminology, and clinical workflows and processes.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and policy issues, with the skills to gather data, and prepare and present and reports on department operations and performance.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate productively with IT professionals, clinicians, customers, staff and vendors to promote optimal functionality and integration of systems.
  • Strong knowledge of human resources practices and policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff activities and performance and contribute to decision-making on personnel matters.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information and instructions in a clear, concise, and specific manner to subordinate staff, management, and all end users of clinical applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical applications software development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Epic Phoenix.
  • Certified Epic Ambulatory.
  • Five (5) years or more experience as an EHR analyst
  • Experience and proven success in effectively leading and/or supervising a technical team and managing the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinical applications.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
