We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Adjunct-Biology who is passionate about cultivating the school’s mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance and review in order to ensure successful development of each student. This is a hybrid position, requiring some on site time to facilitate lab course requirements. Because we are committed to our community, employment preference will be given to candidates who reside in the New River Community and Technical College service area.

This position is an Adjunct position and will report directly to the Dean of Transfer and Pre- Professional Programs. The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.

Job Summary:
Adjunct faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, colleagues, and scholars. Adjunct faculty are expected to excel in classroom instruction and to fulfill various responsibilities related to their assigned teaching duties. The primary duties for the successful candidate will be teaching a full range of Biology courses, including Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology, Microbiology, and other Biology courses.

Summary of Core Responsibilities:

  • Possess thorough and accurate knowledge in field/discipline.
  • Develop instructional materials; plan and organize instruction to enhance student learning; prepare the syllabi; and teach classes in a way that encourages student learning.
  • Meet classes as scheduled.
  • Be accessible to students through e-mail, phone, or scheduled office hours or at other times.
  • Evaluate student work and maintain accurate records of students’ academic standing.
  • Provide students constructive, encouraging, and corrective feedback in a timely manner.
  • Respect the confidentiality of student information; refrain from discussing or releasing such information except within recognized limits.
  • Demonstrate integrity and positive interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fulfill all expectations of adjunct faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

Educational Requirement: Masters Degree in Biology or a Master Degree plus a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Biology from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience Requirement: Two or more years of full-time equivalency of demonstrated teaching experience . Must be experienced in effectively delivering materials virtually via Zoom or similar technology.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $22.09 - $26.60 per hour

Expected hours: 3 per week

Ability to Relocate:

  • Princeton, WV 24739: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
