Description:
The Sr Director of HR, People and Culture for Oxford College is a key member of the senior leadership team and plays a pivotal role in shaping campus culture, talent recruiting and retention, and ensuring the well-being and development of our dedicated employees. They are charged with fostering a positive and inclusive workplace. The Sr Director is responsible for building on and strengthening policy and processes, and mitigating risk exposure wherever possible. They will coach, nurture, and develop a wide variety of employees and will evaluate, identify, and execute best practices in employee management and organizational culture and serve as the authority on all Human Resources related matters, including partnering to manage the academic HR functions in addition to HR for staff and students. This role works closely with leaders across oxford to recruit, develop, and retain talent, foster positive and productive employee relations, and oversee the full scope of employee experience for our incredible campus community – including but not limited to onboarding, annual reviews, compensation evaluation, exit interviews, and off boarding. The Sr Director will also be responsible for securing and administering all employee benefits, ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and ordinances, and oversee operational functions such as payroll. The Sr Director of HR, People and Culture will be a leader for the organization’s commitment to inclusive excellence by modeling and providing leadership in equity, diversity, and inclusion principles across the college, and strive for equitable experiences at all levels of the organization. They are a thought leader in the HR space and serve as a partner to the Dean and Chief Business Officer (CBO) in ensuring the organization operates with both intention and integrity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for human resources for a division or school and ensures compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the strategic succession planning process, generally serves as a member of the senior leadership team and facilitates partnerships across the University.
  • Leads processes related to recruitment, employee relations, performance management, reclassifications, promotions and terminations.
  • Serves as a liaison with the University Human Resources Division; Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and Faculty/Staff Assistance Program.
  • Consults with supervisors and managers regarding staffing needs; is responsible for job and salary documentation and the review of reclassification and promotion requests and changes in organizational structure.
  • Assesses training needs; develops in-house workshops/seminars and identifies other training resources, as appropriate.
  • Reviews and approves supplemental pay requests and other position and pay transactions.
  • Leads the performance management process, ensuring the regular and timely evaluation for staff.
  • Contributes to the culture and employee development focus for the division/school.
  • Participates in or leads other staff or faculty related programs/initiatives as needed.
  • May oversee faculty appointment processes.
  • Supervises staff and generally reports to the Chief Business Office, Dean, VP or equivalent.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field and eight years of human resources experience including HR management experience.
  • Experience working with more than one HR specialty strongly preferred.
  • Certification as a Senior Human Resources Professional preferred.
 
 
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
