Technical Project Manager - Hybrid - 130320

Job Description

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite (twice a week) at Greenwich Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Reporting to UC San Diego Health Marketing and Communications Director of Digital Experience, the Technical Project Manager, plays a critical role in overseeing and executing website-related initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DX, development, content, and marketing to ensure successful project intake, scoping, delivery, adherence to timelines, and alignment with business goals. Your technical expertise and project management skills will drive the success of our web projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

CMS Expertise:

  • Become an expert in our customized instance of Optimizely CMS.
  • Help identify errors and inconsistencies in modules throughout the website.

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables for website development and enhancement projects.
  • Create detailed project plans, including tasks, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with developers, designers, and content creators to ensure seamless execution.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Act as the bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate the impact of updates, bugs, and other changes to appropriate teams.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Attend team meetings and facilitate effective communication across departments to keep everyone informed.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks related to website projects (e.g., technical challenges, resource constraints).
  • Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Proactively address issues to minimize project disruptions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure website functionality, usability, and performance meet established standards.
  • Conduct thorough testing and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Address any defects or issues promptly.
  • Perform occasional updates and maintenance to website.

Budget and Resource Management:

  • Monitor project budgets and resource allocations.
  • Optimize resource utilization while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with finance and HR teams as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training. Related experience: technical project manager, developer, web designer, UX designer, web page content creator with hands-on experience in CMSs and/or website project management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience managing website projects and initiatives.

  • Hands-on experience in customized, modular content management systems (e.g., Optimizely, Sitecore, Kentico, Adobe AEM, Drupal).

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, Trello).

  • Experience with website development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar.

  • Lean Six certification or similar.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,300 - $134,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.58 - $64.42

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
