SEO Strategist - Hybrid - 130319

Job Description

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite (twice a week) at Greenwich Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Reporting to UC San Diego Health Marketing and Communications Director of Digital Experience, the SEO Strategist plays a crucial role in the optimization of our website and online content. They work closely with cross-functional teams to define and execute strategies to enhance search engine rankings, organic traffic, and improve overall visibility. This role requires a deep understanding of search engine algorithms, keyword research, and on-page/off-page optimization techniques. You will be an SEO advocate, educator and a strategic leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define goals and discover opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide standardized reports with specific recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of web and social media recommendations using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, Google Trends and Sprout Social.
  • Report progress and make recommendations for future improvement.
  • Align SEO strategies with overall business goals.
  • Establish relationships and work closely with stakeholders to ensure SEO best practices are followed during content creation.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure the optimization of web pages, content and website architecture.
  • Develop and implement link-building strategies to improve domain authority.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training. Related experience: Experience in an SEO position responsible for keyword research, on-page optimization, link-building or similar SEO work. Experience with SEO tools (e.g., Semrush, Moz Pro, Conductor, BrightEdge, Ahrefs) to make informed decisions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with SEO tools (e.g., Semrush, Moz Pro, Conductor, BrightEdge, Ahrefs).

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive informed decisions.

  • Understanding of social media marketing and its impact on SEO.

  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration.

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of detail and accuracy.

  • Google Analytics certification, Google Ads certification, or similar.

  • Experience with local SEO.

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Strong project management and tactical execution skills.

  • Experience with SEM.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,300 - $134,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.58 - $64.42

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
