Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR) seeks an individual to provide pre-award and post-award grant management services to the IBBR faculty, per the University and Sponsor requirements. Services will be provided under the general supervision of the Grants and Contracts Manager. Pre-award activities include assisting the faculty in the development, preparation, and submission of grant and contract proposals. Post-award activities include detailed reconciliation of assigned accounts, preparing budget reports, and human resources post-award actions for IBBR funded grants and contracts. The portfolio will include scientific research grants and contracts. An ideal candidate will be curious, with strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes as designated.

IBBR is located on the Shady Grove campus in Rockville, MD.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
  • 2 years experience in finance, accounting, higher ed administration, grant accounting and management or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Detail-oriented; highly organized; and have skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact effectively with administrators, and faculty.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated; and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to work independently within a team and in a fast-paced environment.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Knowledge of basic cost accounting principles and the 2CFR200.
  • Direct experience with government funding agencies such as NIH, NSF, and DoD.
  • Experience working with electronic proposal submission programs, such as ASSIST, Research.gov, Grants.gov, NSPIRES, and sciENcv.
  • Working knowledge of Priority BA, KFS, PHR, Workday, and Concur.
