DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Learning & Organization Effectiveness (L&OE) is a multi-function division of the Health Human Resources Department that consists of Learning, Leadership Development, Organization Development, and Learning Technologies. L&OE is responsible for providing complex organization development services and programs, design and delivery of instructor-led and e-learning, development and coordination of major professional development programs; implementation and/or support of system-wide development programs and processes, curation of self-study library resources, roster and attendance administration in the UC Learning Center, oversight of professional development and performance management systems and policies.

This position has a 40/30/30 split between Organization Development, Training Development & Instruction (L&D) and Leadership Development & Coaching respectively. Independently uses and applies wide-ranging experience and proficiency in OD, organization analysis and strategic planning on projects that involve multiple organizations and stakeholders. Regularly works on highly complex issues of strategic engagements where analysis of circumstances and information requires an in-depth evaluation of factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Uses advanced OD professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex organizational, group, interpersonal and intrapersonal issues. This position also applies learning expertise in the design, development, delivery, management and evaluation of University of California system-wide and UC San Diego Health courses and programs. Serves as a primary educator for L&OE courses and programs with an emphasis in leadership & management development, supervisory skills, leading teams, interpersonal effectiveness, workplace performance management and workplace instruction. Able to analyze data from surveys and implement data-driven solutions to better support leader and team engagement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in Organization Development, Education, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Human Resource Development or related field, plus five years of experience in a leadership development, leadership coaching, and organization development.

  • Advanced knowledge of the organization development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized, strategic organization interventions. Highly skilled in conceptualizing and developing theoretical and practical frameworks that describe complex ideas in understandable, usable ways.

  • Deep familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion in organizations, as demonstrated through previous work experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of training and delivery, workplace learning, performance management, DEI, adult learning, individual assessment, leadership & management development, supervisory skills development, career development; as well as communication theories, concepts, practices and techniques. Highly skilled at translating these concepts into practical application through coaching leaders and teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of functional area and advanced understanding of how work impacts other areas in human resources and the organization.

  • Knowledge of the consulting and project management process to effectively lead engagements from inception to conclusion.

  • Advanced knowledge of organization and team effectiveness diagnosis, and improvement strategies.

  • Ability to persuade through both logic and appeal to positive motivations. Ability to negotiate and collaborate/partner effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

  • Highly skilled in facilitation, consulting and relationship building. Skilled in group facilitation includes indicating understanding of the principles of group dynamics and the needs and sensibilities of a diverse work force.

  • Ability to coach, facilitate and influence people at all levels. Advanced skills for coaching managers and leaders to integrate effective management principles and practices into their leadership strategies to improve team and organization effectiveness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Coaching certification (e.g. PCC certification by the ICF or similar reputable certification) with at least 3 years of senior leadership/Director-level coaching experience (references from previous clients of coaching services provided must be made available upon request).

  • Advanced degree in Organization Development, Industrial Organizational Psychology, Human Resource Development or related field.

  • Eight years of experience in Leadership Development and Organization Development.

  • Five years of experience supervising a team of direct reports.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
