The Student Services division encompasses a diverse array of departments dedicated to fostering student success. These include the Student Success Center (offering advising, counseling, career services, and disability support), the Office of Admissions and Records, the Office of Student Financial Support, the Department of Outreach and Recruitment, Student Life and Activities, Athletics, the Campus Assessment Response and Education (CARE) Team, Campus Safety and Security, and Student Support Services (TRiO). The division comprises a team of 68 professionals, with 11 direct reports.

The anticipated yearly salary range for this position is: $143,152 - $161,963 based on experience. Relocation assistance available.

About the role*:
As the Vice President of Student Services, you will lead and administer a comprehensive student services program that embodies our mission to transform lives through education. You will be instrumental in enhancing student recruitment, engagement, access, retention, and completion, while ensuring students' rights are upheld within federal and state mandates. Reporting directly to the President, you will be a key member of the executive leadership team wherein you will help create a place of belonging and an environment where students can truly thrive within an inclusive governance structure that encourages participation and collaboration across all levels of the college community.

How *you will be spending your time:
Leadership & Supervision

  • Providing leadership for the Student Services division and collaborating with the president’s executive leadership team in support of the College’s vision, mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Providing leadership and expertise in enrollment management pertaining to outreach and recruitment, onboarding, retention and completion, including serving as the executive lead for the strategic enrollment leadership council.
  • Building organizational capacity in relation to recruitment and outreach, specifically data-driven recruitment strategies, community engagement, K-12 partnerships, and effectively engaging traditionally underserved populations, e.g., Latin, non-traditional students, and first-generation college students.
  • Providing leadership in support of strategic initiatives, policy development, accreditation compliance, and outcomes assessment.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and vision for the College’s athletics program.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and vision for student life activities and programs, including providing direct support to the Student Government Association.
  • Providing leadership and support for Guided Pathways programming in collaboration with the Office of Instruction.
  • Supporting the College’s CARE and Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT).
  • Overseeing planning for College commencement ceremonies through a college-wide committee.
  • Providing leadership for student wellness, mental health, prevention of substance abuse programs and training.

Assorted Responsibilities

  • Serving as Student Code of Conduct Officer; responsible for enforcing the Student Code of Conduct and ensuring due process.
  • Working collaboratively and in coordination with the CARE Team/BIT.
  • Serving as the Student Services’ Division’s ADA/Section 504 Compliance Officer.
  • Providing situational guidance and management of judicial affairs as stated in WA RCW 9A.44.138 (Sexual Offender Registration), Cleary Act and in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Participating in institutional and community service opportunities.
  • Representing the College on the Washington State Student Services Commission and other appropriate local and state/regional meetings and boards.
  • Participating in College outreach activities and events.
  • Serving on the college-wide Emergency Response Team and assisting with campus emergency incidents.

Minimum Qualifications:*

  • Master’s Degree in applicable disciplines from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Five or more years of progressive management responsibility in higher education
  • Experience in student services in higher education
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Demonstrates administrative leadership.
  • Identifies and implements programs to address College needs in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Experience supporting student success among Latin populations.
  • Exhibits strong management skills, ensuring employee and departmental accountability.
  • Demonstrated budget planning and administrative skills.

Preferred Qualifications:*

  • Doctorate degree in counseling, educational leadership, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience managing student codes of conduct and hearings.
  • Experience developing strategic enrollment management plans, student retention and completion plans.
  • Grant writing and management experience.
  • Bilingual, specifically in Spanish/English.
  • Experience administering Title IX athletic programs, preferably in a community college or other higher education setting.
