Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE), Materials Science & Engineering (MSE), and Fire Protection Engineering is seeking a Business Coordinator that will be supporting the departmental(s) administrative office and procurements for ChBE. The position will be responsible for but not limited to coordinating the day-to-day procurements, shadow system inputs, accounts payable and monthly account reconciliations for ChBE.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience plus two years of related experience.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with an associate’s degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience without a degree.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ability to manage high volume workload with many interruptions and professional demeanor, very service oriented.
  • Resourceful, creative, and able to cultivate relationships that support and enhance the business operation.
  • Mathematical abilities necessary.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, strong overall computer & communication skills as well as, customer service skills/customer service focus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task within deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced environment and strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Able to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workload, and engage in multiple tasks under time constraints.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of University systems.
  • Working knowledge of query language /database structures and data base tables
  • Knowledge of Priority Software. Detailed knowledge required of how to encumber payroll into the system plus knowledge in how to create reports for Director.
  • Knowledge of University environment, business policies and procedures is highly recommended.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to perform activitiessuch as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to traverse short distances on campus to attend meetings and/or pick up materials.
