Essential Job Duties

The Department of Chemistry is accepting applications for the position of part-time Lecturer to teach two sections of a lecture course at the undergraduate level in General Chemistry in the Fall 2024 semester. 

The Lecturer will be responsible for:
  • Full administration of the course  
  • Instruction of course material 
  • Promoting student engagement
  • Conducting examinations and grading 
  • Managing teaching assistants 
  • Planning and coordinating problem session activities.

Course Title: Chemistry – A Molecular Science
Course Description: A fundamental study of molecular bonding, structure, and reactivity. Principles of atomic structure, ionic and covalent bonding, reaction energetics, intermolecular forces, precipitation reactions, acid/base reactions, oxidation/reduction processes, and introductions to organic and inorganic chemistry.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Requires master’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the college or university level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Education or some closely allied field.
  • Experience teaching at the college or university level in Chemistry, Chemical Education or other closely allied fields. This can include time as a graduate student teaching assistant or an instructor of record.
