Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $250,000 - $450,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences is committed to academic excellence, and to enhancing access, inclusion, and success of our diverse faculty, staff, and students. The Moores Cancer Center (MCC), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCSD Health, is embarking on a new trajectory to leverage its significant research and clinical strength which is embedded in an environment that values innovation and collaboration.

We intend to re-envision how we prevent, detect, and treat cancer to improve the lives of cancer patients and the communities we serve. With a robust commitment from UCSD executive leadership, attractive resources across the MCC/UCSD, an exciting San Diego biotech environment, and a new Cancer Center Director. Dr. Diane Simeone, leading a dynamic new senior leadership team, we seek an Associate Director for Translational Science to fill a key leadership role as we launch the next era of impact by the Moores Cancer Center.

The successful candidate will represent the MCC with the UCSD Office of Innovation and Commercialization to promote translation of UCSD discoveries and identify barriers and opportunities for successful commercialization. The Associate Director for Translational Research will partner with the AD of Clinical Science to prioritize clinical trials and partner with the AD for Community Outreach and Engagement to ensure that translational oncology initiatives are aligned with the MCC catchment area high priority cancer.

The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level (tenured) will be based on the candidate's background and experience. The series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

* Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or MD, PhD in health related fields.
* 5+ years track record of extensive oncology clinical trial and translational research experience
* Proven extramural funding in clinical and translational research and clinical trials
* 5+ years of experience in mentorship and training in oncology clinical and translational research
* 5+ years of demonstrated experience working with industry on oncology translation
* 5+ years of experience working part of a collaborative executive leadership team
