In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. Job Description:

The Health Studies Program is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach the following class: Exploring Health Careers. This course is designed for students planning a career in health care or a health-related field. The class provides an introduction to various health professions, resources for career planning, and the concepts of professionalism, health care ethics, cultural competence, interdisciplinary health care teams, and health care policies. The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing materials to help students understand required education and essential skills for working in health care
  • Inviting guest speakers from different health professions to visit the class


Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess:

  • A Master's degree in public health or health-related field
  • One year of teaching experience
  • Experience working in healthcare settings

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least five years actively working in the health field is strongly preferred. Experience and familiarity with learning management systems such as Blackboard or Brightspace preferred.

 


Additional Information:

POSITION EFFECTIVE:  Fall 2024

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $82.57 per hour. No benefits.
