Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the SPP Building Operations Manager, the SPP Operations Program Coordinator is responsible for providing program coordination assistance to the SPP community and external programs/non-signature events throughout the Thurgood Marshall Hall (TMH) facility. This position will meet with program/event coordinators, communicate with all program/event stakeholders, arrange program/event services, troubleshoot program/event issues, reconcile program/event finance invoices, provide feedback on clientele experience, recommend policies and procedures to improve the space use and support process, and provide a consistent program/event experience within TMH that includes (but is not limited to) space use, A/V or IT resources, catering, parking, signage, transportation, UMD security services, housekeeping and Facilities Management services, furniture rentals, program/event safety protocols, etc.
This position will vet program/event requests, forecast and communicate facility impact alerts to the SPP community, and track all resource needs pertaining to program/event usage. They will meet regularly with SPP IT, Building Operations, and SPP Finances to coordinate program/event needs, adjust building security, and discuss finances pertaining to program/event space usage. The facility is scheduled to operate 7am-10pm M-Th & 7am-7pm F, however this position may need to work early mornings, late nights and/or weekends depending on program/event needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of hospitality/meeting planning experience.
Preferences:
Preferences:
- Experience in a large collegiate conference environment. Experience should include contract negotiation and preparation, and logistical planning.
- Demonstrated supervisory, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent editing and proofreading.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, track activities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to keep clear and accurate records.
- Ability to produce effective meetings, programs and events in traditional and non-traditional spaces.
- Experience in using the Event Management Software (EMS) for program/event planning and post-program/event reconciliation.
Additional Information:
Salary range is $60,000 – $70,000.
