Summary

Cubic Corporation is seeking an exceptional, visionary Chief Information Officer (CIO) to spearhead our technological advancement and digital transformation initiatives. As a key member of the executive leadership team reporting directly to the CEO, the CIO will play a pivotal role in shaping Cubic's future in the rapidly evolving defense and transportation technology landscapes. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking technology leader with a proven track record of driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering substantial business value through strategic IT initiatives. This role demands a unique blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to navigate the complex challenges of our industry.

As CIO, you will be responsible for:

  • Architecting and executing a comprehensive, forward-looking IT strategy that aligns with and propels Cubic's ambitious growth objectives in the C5ISR and transportation sectors.
  • Leading large-scale digital transformation efforts across all business units, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to create competitive advantages and new market opportunities.
  • Ensuring the security and resilience of Cubic's global IT infrastructure, with a particular focus on meeting and exceeding the stringent cybersecurity requirements of the defense industry.
  • Driving operational efficiencies through innovative use of technology, optimizing our global IT systems to support rapid scalability and agile business processes.
  • Fostering a culture of innovation within the IT department and across the organization, promoting the adoption of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and advanced data analytics.
  • Collaborating closely with other C-suite executives to identify and capitalize on technology-driven business opportunities, contributing directly to Cubic's revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Overseeing critical IT aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, ensuring seamless integration and value realization.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Innovation:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that supports Cubic's growth objectives and enhances our competitive edge in C5ISR solutions
  • Develop enterprise objectives and budgets to facilitate the orderly and cost-effective solutions for: storage, processing, and dissemination of information.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives across all business units, with a focus on operational efficiencies and technological innovation
  • Collaborate with C-suite executives to leverage emerging technologies for new product development and market expansion
  • Lead IT governance, risk management, and compliance efforts in line with defense and government contracting requirements

Technology and Security Advancement:

  • Oversee the evolution of Cubic's technology stack, ensuring alignment with industry-leading practices in C5ISR and transportation systems
  • Strengthen cybersecurity capabilities across enterprise systems and commercially delivered products, with particular attention to defense-grade security standards
  • Spearhead the adoption of AI, machine learning, and advanced data analytics to enhance Cubic's product offerings and internal operations. Establish an enterprise-wide data strategy and architecture
  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as NIST800-171 and CMMC, critical for defense sector operations

Operational Excellence and Efficiency:

  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies through strategic use of technology across all business functions
  • Optimize IT infrastructure and applications to support Cubic's global operations and rapid growth
  • Manage a substantial IT budget, balancing innovation investments with cost-effective solutions
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global IT team capable of supporting Cubic's diverse technology needs

Business Alignment and Value Creation:

  • Collaborate closely with business unit leaders to ensure IT capabilities support and enhance Cubic's product and service offerings
  • Drive technology-enabled business transformation to create new revenue streams and enhance customer value
  • Support M&A activities with robust IT due diligence and seamless integration strategies
  • Serve as the primary point of contract for all business acquisitions or divestures. Orchestrate and implement a plan for a smooth IT integration process.

Risk Mitigation and Triage:

  • Proactively intercept IT risks, providing senior leadership with an understanding of the problem statement, mitigation activities and timelines associated for fix/implementation
  • Build operational resiliency to minimize disruption during cyber-attacks, natural disasters, and other destructive events. Strengthen and certify all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
  • Interact with business unit leaders on internal and external operations impacted by the capture, storage, processing, and dissemination of information.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with significant exposure to defense or high-tech industries
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives in complex, global organizations

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of C5ISR technologies and their applications in defense and commercial sectors
  • Strong background in cybersecurity, particularly in contexts relevant to government and defense contracting
  • Experience with large-scale ERP implementations and cloud migration strategies
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and advanced data analytics

Leadership and Business Acumen:

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and ability to translate technology into business value
  • Strong communication skills, adept at influencing C-level executives and board members
  • Experience managing large, diverse IT teams across multiple geographies
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with defense and transportation industry trends and challenges
  • Understanding of government contracting processes and compliance requirements

Cubic Pay Range:$200,000 - $400,000 + benefits.The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
