- Master’s Degree and a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in grants and contracts administration in a university, hospital, or non-profit research setting. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be substituted for the requirements notes.
- Extensive knowledge of federal regulations, sponsor guidelines, and the Federal Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance (2C.F.R. Part 200), as they relate to sponsored program activity
- Ability to provide subject matter expertise in research accounting, research financials & budgeting, post award management, state and federal regulations relating to all campuses.
- Demonstrated capacity to address complex issues and to negotiate positive resolutions.
- Knowledge of a complex regulatory environment, especially federal grant and contracts, and research oversight requirements.
- Knowledge of and experience with federal, state, and other funding regulations.
- Strong customer service orientation and an ability to maintain a harmonious and effective working relationship with supervisor, direct reports, faculty, University/public officials, and students. ·
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to working with faculty, including the ability to explain grant and contract terms and conditions.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to address complex issues independently and to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Efficient work habits, strong organizational skills, and a superior attention to detail.
- Knowledge of assessment and data collection for comparative purposes.

1.Support the mission and strategic objectives of REEO by leading the post-award administration of sponsored programs awards, i.e., Accounting and Financial Compliance (AFC) and the Support Team for the Administration of Research (STAR).
2. Provide leadership to SPA post-award personnel and promote a service culture that supports the research enterprise across the system.
3. Direct all aspects of the management and operations of the AFC and STAR including hiring, training, and ensuring professional development of staff.
4. Determine policies, procedures, training, and outreach appropriate to support post-award activities.
5. Determine policies and procedures related to the post award administration of sponsored programs, working with stakeholders as needed.
6. Liaise with the Director, Pre-Award to ensure appropriate pre-award policies and processes that ensure smooth post-award administration are in place
Duty/Responsibility
1. Responsible for leading the integrations of accounting and financial compliance and the support team for the administration of research (STAR).
2. Responsible for Uniform Guidance and other research financial policy development and dissemination
3. Evaluates research financial organizational structures and business processes and make recommendations or changes as needed to ensure consistent delivery of services.
4. Updates and draft policies and determines training and education needs in conjunction with Associate Directors for grant and contract administrators.
5. Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of direct reports.
6. Contribute to further development of internal systems/procedures.
7. Educate the campus research community regarding all applicable policies and procedures;
8. Monitor developments and trends in federal and state agencies as they impact funding regulations, polices or guidelines and disperse information interpreting regarding these trends.
9. Determine monthly and annual tracking metrics for reporting to leadership.
10. Assist the AVP with planning and introduction of new initiatives; policy updates and changes.
11. Meet regularly with the AVP and provide a status report of pending projects, staff issues and challenges.
12. Other projects as assigned.
Duty/Responsibility
1. Serve as a lead subject matter expert to faculty and staff regarding AFC processes and sponsor requirements.
2. Provides professional sponsored programs guidance to the research community as well as sponsored programs administration staff.
3. Plan and execute appropriate communications to faculty, sponsored programs staff, and administrators regarding post-award administration of grants.
4. Actively participate and contribute to the Research Operations Team Meetings

1. Build partnerships with other offices and campuses to communicate, implement and train on policies,
procedures, regulations, new systems, and other initiatives.
2. Engage in outreach activities such as developing, implementing, and coordinating training programs for staff and faculty on topics related to sponsored programs.

1. Partners with Director, and other Research Administration leaders to develop and present information and training sessions on post-award policies and procedures and award management techniques.
2. Establishes operating procedures to increase consistent practices and achieve a reputation of predictable, client-facing, excellent service to client investigators and staff.
3. Responsible for Continuous Improvement of all SPA Processes, Policies & Procedures.
4. Performs other duties/projects as required
