Your Role
The Senior Manager of the Lifestyle Medicine Health Education (HE) and Cultural and Linguistic (C&L) team oversees the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Health Education and Cultural and Linguistic Programs for Blue Shield of CA Promise Health plan. The team includes three health educators, one coordinator, one C&L Specialist, and one HE/C&L specialist. The Senior Manager reports to the Senior Director of Lifestyle Medicine.
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Provide operational, strategic and vendor oversight of C&L programs, protocols, policies and procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the cultural & linguistics team on oversight of language assistance program including translation and interpretation for Promise BSC members.
- Lead health educators in their work to coach Promise members as well as deliver health education classes at Promise Community Resource Centers.
- Meet requirements set by health plan regulatory agencies.
- Lead the annual goal setting process, ongoing review, and monitoring progress of team members' goals, providing continuous coaching and mentoring, and supporting the team members' professional development.
- Motivate and manage staff to ensure that performance standards are met or exceeded. Give timely and constructive feedback on performance.
- Assess the personnel needs of the department. Mentor health education and C&L staff including the facilitation of enrichment activities and direct personnel supervision.
- Monitor IPAs to ensure compliance with LA Care and Department of Health Care (DHCS) health education and Cultural and Linguistic requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments on All Plan Letters (APL) and mandates relating to health education, health equity and cultural competency.
- Manage the department budget.
- Travel as needed to various locations throughout the service area.
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10-year prior relevant experience, including 4 years of management experience.
- Prefers a minimum of five years prior experience in developing and implementing health education programs.
- Prefers a minimum of two years prior participation in projects related to health equity and cultural competency.
- Knowledge of general public health principles and programs; principles of process, impact, and outcome evaluation.
- Knowledge of behavior change theories and interventions in healthcare.
- Prefer experience working with the Medi-Cal population.
- Knowledge of managed care is highly desirable.
- Master of Public Health in health education preferred.
- CHES or MCHES certification preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Ability to travel to various locations throughout the Los Angeles County service area.
Pay Range
The pay range for this role is: $ 120120.00 to $ 180180.00 for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
