DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Care is seeking an outstanding clinical pharmacist to join a highly successful Inpatient Pharmacy team to work as a Controlled Substance Supervisor. The pharmacist is responsible for patient care, clinical training, and quality initiatives, with special emphasis in controlled substance operations (audits and compliance) within the Department of Pharmacy The job will also integrate into the clinical, teaching, research, and distribution systems. Primary duties will include oversight of controlled substances practices and regulations and have direct supervision of other pharmacists and technicians. The clinical specialist will be the point of contact for day to day operations in this area as related to medication management. The pharmacist will provide feedback to staff to follow all pertinent regulations (e.g. Board of Pharmacy and DEA). The individual will be responsible for fielding questions related to this specialized area and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary care team. The specialist will also continue to maintain a clinical practice within the inpatient area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D); or equivalent training.

  • Post graduate year 1 [PGY1] In Pharmacy Practice; or equivalent experience.

  • Registered Pharmacist in the State of California.

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.

  • Experience and proven success in pharmaceutical theory and industry best practices in optimizing the use of medication to treat patients.

  • Stays updated on pharmacy regulations and developments in research and design. Ability to apply principles to an acute care setting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Board Certification in Specialty Practice (if available).
  • Post graduate year 2 [PGY2] in area of specialty practice or equivalent experience in specialty area.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $145,200 - $289,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $69.54 - $138.41

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
