The role of the Financial Aid Advisor is pivotal in supporting students and their families through the complex landscape of financial aid. This position is dedicated to delivering precise and prompt financial guidance, addressing queries related to financial aid, billing, and Veterans Affairs (VA). Beyond individual advising, the Financial Aid Advisor plays a crucial role in operational tasks such as file reviews, verification, award processing, withdrawal calculations, work-study coordination, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) monitoring, and conducting informative financial aid presentations. Adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures is fundamental to the integrity and effectiveness of this role.
As a Financial Aid Advisor, you will assist students with requests related to financial aid billing, payment, and VA funding. You will advise students on withdrawal calculations, including the Return of Title IV funds, and counsel both students and parents on financial aid and financial literacy issues. Conducting student outreach regarding current outstanding balances and financial aid requirements will be an essential part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will counsel students on professional judgment, unusual enrollment, and loan proration, as well as advise them on SAP violations and appeal completion. Responding to financial aid email messages sent to the office, assisting with Work-Study operations, including helping supervisors, posting open positions, reviewing applications, and coordinating with human resources throughout the hiring process, will also be part of your duties. Completing financial aid processing tasks, such as ISIR reviews, verification, awarding, and processing withdrawal calculations, is essential. You will also assist with the development and presentation of financial aid workshops and participate in system meetings and committees.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position holds a bachelor's degree in a business-related field, or a bachelor's degree in another field supplemented by at least one year of financial aid experience. While two years of financial aid experience is preferred, candidates with a strong understanding of financial aid processes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to helping students navigate their financial responsibilities will excel in this role. Proficiency in managing various financial aid tasks and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential qualities for success.
