Climate Leaders Program

About the Department

The Climate Leadership Program (CLP) provides opportunities for NC State students and faculty to focus on solutions that can mitigate or reverse the negative effects of climate change through technical, managerial, political or economic approaches that, if adopted, offer a promise of impactful progress that will help humanity deal with this existential threat. The program is supported by a Program Director, Senior Faculty Fellow and Faculty. Students in the program attend monthly sessions, a three-day intensive academy and a two-day Fall Symposium and they participate in internships as Climate Leadership Scholars. This program empowers, educates and inspires young people to embark on careers and become innovative leaders in mitigating climate change.

Along with the student focused events the program collaborates with other NC State programs focused on building sustainable futures and resilient communities in light of climate change. The program hosts and supports other events across campus and participates in partnership development, communication and engagement across multiple sectors, which advance NC State University as a leader on climate adaptation and resilience, perhaps the most critical issue of our time.
