Occupational Summary

Craven Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Solar Photovoltaic (PV) classes in the Workforce Development Department. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time; however upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted directly by the department on an as-needed basis. Requires flexible hours: days, nights and possible weekends.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Instructs, advises, guides and assists students to achieve job skills and social skills necessary to become employed in the solar industry
  • Integrates classroom and hands-on experience enabling students to demonstrate competencies
  • Plans and organizes instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Modifies instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students' needs
  • Oversees day-to-day operation of the class
  • Recruits and provides orientation for new students in the program
  • Maintains class records; prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy
  • Follows all safety and security procedures and notifies the campus leadership of deficiency
  • Provides feedback to program supervisor regarding student progress and/or comprehension of course content in classroom or in theory classes
  • Ensures confidentiality of all student records and student information
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill in subject specialty
  • Motivates and encourages students to successfully complete their program
  • Promotes community awareness of program opportunities
  • Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College

Minimum Qualifications

Specialized training and industry certifications in the Renewable Energy trade and applications.

�Competency gained through work experience.

Preferred:
NABCEP Certification

NCCER Certification

�Four years of direct experience working with renewable energy.

�One year postsecondary teaching experience in subject matter.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom.

�Excellent oral and written communication skills.

�Must work well with others in a team environment.

�Should be familiar with and appreciate the mission of a community college.
