Job Duties
1. Using both the traditional and the non-traditional formats – short-term, weekend, online, hybrid, web-enhanced, – teach a full load of assigned science courses at times when needed – (1) during the day including early morning, late afternoon, and evening and on (2) holidays and/or (3) weekends.
2. Curriculum supervision and duties assigned by college administration.
3. Improvements of the methods, content, and value of each course taught and at all times strive to better understand the students and their needs for the present and future.
4. Teach, in addition to the subject matter, good citizenship, respect for the rights of others, respect for college property and the proper attitude toward education both in and out of the classroom.
5. Attend all School of Science and Kinesiology meetings, general faculty meetings, and campus meetings.
6. Establish, post, and maintain office hours as directed by college policy.
7. Advise students in and effort to provide effective guidance according to their area of interest to include, but not limited to, choosing courses, transfer information, scholarship information, and career information.
8. Realize and act upon the importance of faculty as a public relations agent for the college.
9. Make use of the counseling office services and materials to improve teaching effectiveness.
10. Conduct class for the full class period.
11. Participate in budget preparation and acquisition of instructional materials and supplies as required.
12. Utilize the library, media center and learning lab materials and resources.
13. Explore alternative instructional methods of teaching.
14. Promote and participate in student activities and organizations/clubs/associations.
15. Meet the professional development requirements of the college.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate college personnel.

Job Description
Responsible for the teaching of assigned courses at assigned sites as well as the other duties and responsibilities in this position. Reports to the School of Science and Kinesiology Chair at the Jackson County Campus.

Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Master’s degree in Biology or Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Biology.
(M2) Teaching experience.
(M3) Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills.
(M4) Familiarity with Internet, email and word processing functions.

Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Doctorate in an appropriate field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
(D2) Qualifications to teach various lecture/lab courses in the area of biological sciences (General Biology, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Nutrition, Human Anatomy and Physiology).
(D3) Experience in teaching at the community college and/or college-level.
