Position Summary

Located 45 minutes from the Nation’s Capital, nestled in a history-rich community of southern Maryland, The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is a two-time Aspen Award-winning institution (top 15% of Community Colleges) with academic programs in over 100 disciplines. This is an applicant pool for part-time faculty in the Performing Arts in the Department of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education. The areas taught in the Performing Arts include:

CSM is looking for a dynamic individual who can implement the comprehensive mission of a community college by assessing, documenting, and improving student learning through instruction.

These positions are located at the La Plata, Leonardtown and Prince Frederick campuses; Music Appreciation, Music History, Theater History courses located at the La Plata campus; Introduction to Theater, and Private Music Instruction courses may be taught at the Leonardtown or Prince Frederick campus.

The college also has a significant need for passionate adjunct faculty excited to contribute to our Early College program. Students taking Early College classes are dually enrolled in their local high school while also completing courses at CSM towards a certificate or degree. Early College faculty teach face-to-face classes between the hours of 8:15 am and 2:00 pm, two to four days a week.

College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the College's staff and students.  The final candidate for this position will be subject to the following background checks:  Criminal History Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

Minimum Education and Training

  • Master's degree in the discipline of instruction OR Master's in any field AND 15 hours in the discipline OR Sufficient experience in lieu of either requirement, as approved by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • This person should possess enthusiasm and passion for student learning and be able to respond to the needs of students using a variety of teaching methods including new technologies.
  • Subject matter/content expertise in your field.
