The Program Manager, Space & Move Planning oversees the Space and Move Program under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Planning. The Program Manager, Space & Move Planning will lead the Space and Move Team as well as establish, implement, and manage a strategic space governance program. The Space and Move Team influences and supports optimal use of space by providing strategic space and operations guidance based on best practices. The ideal candidate will have space planning and programming experience as well as familiarity with complex, large academic medical centers, and will be skillful at interacting with the leaders, faculty, and staff in a responsive, diplomatic, patient, and collaborative manner, while continuing to understand how to balance the priorities of the various functions of the unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and implement a strategic space governance program and drive complex decisions forward.
• Partners with Leadership in short- and long-range planning activities that align with institutional goals, incorporate innovation and new technologies and promote the individual needs of each business unit.
• Acts in an advisory role to all departments, programs, staff, and leaders in regard to space allocation and planning.
• Ensures existing processes support high levels of performance while continuously reviewing and refining those processes to make additional improvements.
• Supports professional growth of direct reports through identification of learning needs, designing developmental plans, and facilitating learning opportunities. Coaches, mentors, and motivates direct reports to meet business unit program goals.
• Facilitates effective communication across the enterprise. Builds, develops, and grows business relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
• Manages the selection and prioritization process for projects to align with organizational strategic goals; assigns resources based on skill and capacity.

• 11 years of related experience, education/training, OR a bachelor's degree in related area plus Seven (7) years of related experience/training.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and project manager software skills.
• Working knowledge of CAD drawing programs and architectural design application programs.
• Expert project management skills to effectively manage highly complex, multiphase projects or specialized critical project components within an occupied academic medical center.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, and regulations governing planning, building design and construction, including but not limited to, TJC, HCAi, NFPA and CDPH requirements.
• Expert understanding of industry practices and/or highly specialized discipline such as space planning and programming.
• Expert skill in advising and consulting with senior leaders, interdisciplinary stakeholders, design professionals and construction contractors.
• Expert skill in promoting, advancing, and implementing programs within area of expertise.
• Expert skill in building, maintaining, and nurturing strong professional relationships.

• Certification in Project Management, Program Management, Lean Six Sigma and/or Change Management.
