Position Summary

The Adult Education Instructional Support Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Adult Learning to grow, develop, and provide adult education program offerings. The coordinator will work and support adult education leadership, students, instructors, and staff to fulfill the needs of community agencies and partnerships within the service area.

This is a temporary, grant-funded, and probationary position. Continued employment is dependent on continued funding.

This position will be based in Childersburg.
Compensation: Salary Schedule E2 ($50,757 - $66,832)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Adhere to the policies, rules, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, the Alabama Community College System, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare required reports as required by Central Alabama Community College, the Alabama Community College System, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure institutional compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with adult education students, and adult education instructors, and other adult education staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal partners and external partners.
  • Assist in the collection, review, and analysis of relevant data as it is collected by the Adult Education data management system.
  • Facilitate adult education students and graduates’ awareness of career pathways and career entry point.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and share information with colleagues.
  • Counsel, coach, and assist students with entering post-secondary and employment as assigned.
  • Assist with orientation and proctoring of required tests.
  • Maintain and update instructional materials in classroom.
  • Assist in designing and facilitating staff development plans.
  • Recruit students for the Adult Education program.
  • Assist in ensuring educational quality and the success of adult education students in the service area
  • Collaborate and coordinate adult education activities, classes, etc. with site partners and other community organizations as assigned.
  • Assist in establishing partnerships with community leaders and organizations.
  • Assist in designing strategies to meet the program's State and Federal goals.
  • Act as backup to the department Secretary as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. Master’s degree in education is preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a federal funded education program is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of employment within educational environment is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the AAESAP system; certification, and/or teaching experience with Ready to Work, Digital Literacy, Work Keys, and other industry-recognized programs is preferred.
  • Effective oral and written skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs is required.
  • Data management experience is required.
  • Experience in organizing and hosting educational events is required.
  • Active Driver’s License is required.
  • Ability to travel to and from instructional sites and to participate in scheduled activities is required.
  • Ability to work collectively with education staff, community agencies, and other programs in the service area is required.
  • Ability to work non-traditional work hours (as needed) is required.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the two-year college system is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks is required.
  • Experience in creating Powerpoint presentations; experience in leading presentations is required.
  • Experience working with diverse populations is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and teaching online courses is preferred.
  • Experience working with adult education, career services, postsecondary education or workforce development is preferred.

The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
