EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICS: Full-Time Exempt (Administrative/Professional/Technical Appointment, 260 days), 1.0 FTE

POSITION LOCATION: On campus position located in Fort Morgan, CO


PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB: 
The Dean of Health Sciences is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, oversight, and management of community and clinical partnerships for the college's healthcare related programs. The Dean is the primary person responsible for all activities related to healthcare programs, including both degree and certificate programs. The Dean is a key member of the college's Instructional Council, informing the team of area healthcare needs to guide program development and modification. The Dean will work with the Instructional Council in the implementation of new programs based on proper labor market analysis and services in accordance with the mission and strategic vision of MCC. The position requires substantial travel throughout the state representing the college on a regular basis. The Dean shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a content area relevant to the offerings of the Health Sciences division, or in higher education leadership, workforce development, or other relevant area.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in educational leadership and/or healthcare leadership.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a fulltime faculty member at the postsecondary level, secondary level, or equivalent teaching experience.
  • Mastery of curriculum design and instructional practice/theory to make decisions or recommendations significantly changing, interpreting, or developing instructional policies and/or programs affecting the entire college.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make public presentations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community involvement.
  • Leadership skills based on openness, consultation, teamwork, and entrepreneurship.
  • Ability to travel as required by the position on a regular basis. Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects; maintain compliance with deadlines, length of institutional day/week and committee service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in a content area relevant to offerings at MCC, including healthcare, higher education leadership, workforce development, or other relevant content area.
  • Experience developing and implementing healthcare programs.
  • Experience working in a community college.
  • Experience teaching in a healthcare program at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience working with state and federal workforce grants.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Experience with a variety of contemporary instructional delivery methods. Experience with grant management and oversight.

Anticipated Start Date: July 2024


Salary and Benefits:

$91,100 to $104,270 based on education, skills and experience. Candidates with a Doctoral degree and/or additional years of experience may receive an extra $4,100 base increase. Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance, LTD & benefit package including tuition reimbursement in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is one of 13 colleges comprising the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). The college has been named a Great College to Work For by the Chronicle of Higher Education in the past decade.

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. MCC provides high quality transferable courses and career & technical education culminating in a variety of certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs through traditional, innovative, and non-traditional delivery methods in an 11,500 square mile regional area of eastern Colorado.

The College serves this vast, rural, agricultural area from its main campus in Fort Morgan and through four regional locations in Bennett, Limon, Burlington and Wray. These locations are 75 to 150 miles from the campus in Fort Morgan.
