Job Summary

The Military Family Research Institute (www.mfri.purdue.edu) at Purdue University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with interests in research about the dissemination of evidence-based therapies in behavioral health. The primary responsibilities of this position are to lead and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations related to the Star Behavioral Health Providers program. Secondary responsibilities are to develop new ways of analyzing and presenting metrics about the program to a variety of audiences. The person in this position will lead or contribute to conceptualizing projects, preparing data, conducting data analyses, and writing and revising manuscripts. Dr. Shelley MacDermid Wadsworth, Distinguished Professor and Director of the Military Family Research Institute, will supervise the work of the successful candidate, who also will work closely with the MFRI data team.

This position will provide excellent learning opportunities about military and veteran populations, community-based engagement and outreach, and center operations. It will also provide opportunities to learn about other MFRI research and translational activities.

  • Review of applications will begin on August 1 and proceed on a rolling basis.
  • Salary commensurate with current NIH stipends, depending on experience.
  • This position can be primarily remote, but we anticipate the need for periodic trips to West Lafayette.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At the position start date, the candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Human Development/Developmental Science, Family Studies/Science, psychology, sociology, or Public Health).
  • Evidence of strong quantitative methodological and data management skills.
  • Evidence of strong writing skills
  • Evidence of prior research experience.
  • Substantive knowledge about one or more of the following: behavioral health issues in military-connected populations; dissemination of evidence-based therapies; implementation science; communities of practice; training the behavioral health workforce.
  • Evidence of attention to detail and self-motivation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Able to manage projects to completion, especially the design and completion of research products such as manuscripts.
  • Experience preparing scholarly publications and presentations.
  • Lived experience in a military or veteran family or working with military-connected families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of effective interdisciplinary collaboration.

Based within the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Purdue University, the Military Family Research Institute conducts research, engagement, and outreach activities with military-connected populations.
