Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Brightpoint Community College’s mission is to provide quality educational opportunities that inspire student success and community vitality. It envisions a success story for every student.

Our college is seeking qualified individuals to apply for the Associate Instructor position to provide on-campus delivery instruction at both the Chester and Midlothian campuses, with limited opportunity for online instruction. Assigned courses include primarily daytime and evening on-campus sections, between the Chester and Midlothian campuses. The Associate Instructor will teach the equivalent of 39-42 credits per academic year. There are no formal student advising or committee responsibilities. The associate instructor role is a one-year teaching position with salary and benefits.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
Several years of EMS/Paramedic experience; Some experience teaching EMS courses; EMT-Instructor Certification; ALS Coordinator; and Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be willing to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and online classes with the ability to be flexible to work at any of the College’s locations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

Additional Considerations
Associate’s degree or higher in EMT-Paramedic or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning and Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic.
