Senior Advisor to the Institute Innovation Fellow
Job Description
SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE INSTITUTE INNOVATION FELLOW (IIF), MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), will serve as a key advisor to the IIF, helping to lead one of the IIF’s major projects, and contribute to others where possible. Will report to the IIF but exercises significant independent judgment and leads implementation of key aspects of the Clean Energy Marshall Plan project; serve as policy lead for further development on the IIF’s Clean Energy Marshall Plan proposal including developing complementary policy proposals including those around multilateral development bank (MDB) reform; serve as lead for developing the domestic and international climate components of the IIF’s forward-facing research agenda including policy proposals and research; be responsible for coordination with the IIF’s research partners including identifying partners on specific research; and serve as the lead policy advisor for the development of the Global Clean Investment Monitor (GCIM), working alongside the data lead to develop MIT’s project plan, timeline, and priorities associated with the first stage of GCIM development.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of ten years of experience in government, public policy, research, or related field; solid entrepreneurial leadership capabilities, including ability to create and pursue a long-term plan of action with minimal supervision; experience working on economic policy issues as well as climate change, sustainability, and/or energy policy issues; exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills; significant experience advising and working with senior officers of an organization; strong organizational capabilities; ability to work collaboratively in a large and complex organization; ability to build relationships with external organizations from different sectors; willingness and ability to mediate diverse perspectives and build consensus; experience recruiting and overseeing direct reports; and ability to review and synthesize broad and diverse data to inform strategy development. This is a term position with an end date of February 28, 2026 (aligned with the end of the project) with a possibility of extending based on funding.
