Job Description:
The Humanities Department is seeking an Instructor of History to teach, online and in-person, a wide range of History courses, including Western Civilization and Global History in addition to history of Modern Latin America and Africa. The ideal candidate must show evidence of commitment to best practices in student-centered pedagogy and advancing intercultural historical learning to support students in developing critical thinking skills. The successful candidates will be expected to hold office hours, to participate in assessment activities, and to support the mission of the College and the department, participating and collaborating in departmental and College activities and service roles. The successful candidate is expected to stay current in their field of study, and ongoing professional development is strongly encouraged and supported for this position.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Master's Degree in Global or World History; Latin America/Caribbean Studies or a closely related field. A minimum of one year of experience in college teaching in multiple world history courses is also required. All candidates must have evidence of and commitment to full-time teaching at the Community College.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that the successful candidate possess a PhD in History and have experience teaching in-person courses. Emphasis in hiring will be for knowledgeable, student-centered individuals who excel at teaching and who bring experience in instructional technology, distance learning, course development, and program/curriculum assessment. Expertise in a wide range of specialized history courses is preferred.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2025
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
