Essential Job Duties

Supports the basic Moodle site development of online/hybrid courses, including setting up Moodle structure based on the course design, creating and duplicating module templates, adapting course orientation materials, and setting up the course roadmap.

Assists IDG in creating and updating course materials, including web content, interactive exercises, assessments, and communications.

Assists other colleagues and development teams within IDG in researching, brainstorming, developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative and pedagogically sound solutions for addressing instructional challenges.

Creates training resources for faculty and staff, such as job aids, short videos, and help files.

Partners with other production colleagues and development teams within IDG in researching, brainstorming, developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative and pedagogically sound solutions for addressing instructional challenges.

Builds positive, collaborative working relationships with staff members across the organization and actively encourages a collaborative and team-oriented approach to brainstorming, exploration, and problem-solving for instructional production projects."

Other Work/Responsibilities

  • Design and develop effective web-based courses, including web content, interactive exercises, assessments, and online communication mechanisms in collaboration with faculty, multimedia specialists, instructional designers, and other instructional professionals.
  • Assist faculty members in the analysis, design, and development of effective courses and instructional programs.
  • Communicate trends and research in instructional design, scholarship of teaching and learning, teaching and learning with technology, and distance education throughout the University by various methods, such as writing, workshops, and seminars both individually and in collaboration with others.
  • Collaborate with various technology units and other support units of the university to advance project design, development, and evaluation.
  • Contribute to outreach initiatives by providing consultations, presentations, and workshops to faculty and staff, and participating in online discussions and conferences.
  • Participate in DELTA projects and initiatives as assigned.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Learning Design and Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Media, Instructional Systems Design, Educational Psychology, or a related field.

  • Experience applying usability and accessibility considerations in instructional design.
  • High level of independence and initiative.
  • Experience with large-course redesign, blended or hybrid courses, and/or converting large enrollment courses into online courses.
  • Proficiency in using multimedia hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Experience in project management, including managing time, establishing priorities, distributing responsibilities, and meeting milestones and deliverables.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies related to teaching and learning.
  • Professional preparation in using various instructional technologies, including hardware and software, multimedia technologies, the Internet, and online learning techniques.
  • Experience that demonstrates working in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to establish collegial relationships with faculty and staff.
  • Experience in designing and developing online/hybrid courses using online technologies, either individually or in collaboration with others.
  • Intermediate-level skills with at least one video conferencing system, such as Zoom, Google Meet, or WebEx Meetings.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Media, Instructional Systems Design, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
